What We Believe...

NewLife Church is affiliated with the Church of God (Cleveland, TN), the oldest Charismatic denomination in the U.S. We believe the whole Bible to be completely and equally inspired and that it is the written Word of God. NewLife Church follows the Declaration of Faith of the Church of God as its standard and official expression of doctrine. Below is a summary of the foundational teachings of our church.

We Believe:

  • That the Bible is the inspired word of God.
  • That there is one God who eternally exists in the persons of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  • That Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father; He was conceived of the Holy Spirit, and born of the Virgin Mary.
  • That Jesus was crucified, buried, and raised from the dead and that He ascended to heaven and is today at the right hand of the Father as our Mediator.
  • That since every person sins, we come short of the perfection of God. Repentance is therefore commanded of God for all and is necessary for us to be forgiven of our sins.
  • That because of what Jesus did on the cross, believers are made right with God, and are given new life by God.
  • That through faith in the blood of Christ, through the scriptures, and by the Holy Spirit, believers are given a purified heart and life.
  • That holiness is God’s standard of living for all His people.
  • That the baptism in the Holy Spirit is available to all believers following God’s cleansing of their hearts.
  • That all of the spiritual gifts spoken of in the New Testament (e.g. the evidence of tongues, healing, miracles, etc.) are still in effect and are available to followers of Jesus Christ today.
  • That the gifts of the Spirit are given to those baptized in the Holy Spirit, by the Father, as both the initial and ongoing evidence of His indwelling, and to empower each believer to fulfill their individual calling.
  • That believers are to be baptized by immersion, and in the way that Jesus instructed in the Bible.
  • In the sharing of communion and in the washing of the saints’ feet; in imitation of Christ, and as we are instructed in the word of God.
  • In the literal return of Jesus Christ. First, to resurrect believers who have died and to call living believers to Him, second, to reign on the earth for a thousand years.
  • In a literal, bodily resurrection for all; that those who have received salvation in Christ will be given eternal life, and those who have rejected Him will live in eternal separation from God.
